The Pocket Diagnostic® T-2/HT-2 Rapid Test is a cost-effective competitive lateral flow immunoassay that can be used in multiple testing scenarios for the qualitative screening of T-2 and HT-2 toxins at a detection limit of 200 ppb.

Interpretation of results


The Test Line (T) is lighter in colour than the Control Line (C) or there is no Test Line. 


The Test Line (T) is the same density of colour as, or darker than the Control Line (C).


An invalid result is likely to occur if there has been an insufficient volume of sample added to the sample well or the test procedure has not been followed correctly. In the event of an invalid result follow the test procedure again with a new rapid test. If invalid results continue after two further attempts contact your supplier.

About T-2 and HT-2 toxins

T-2 and HT-2 toxins are produced by different Fusarium mould species and can develop on a variety of cereal grains. The likelihood of these toxins emerging is increased in temperatures of 6-24oC and humid storage conditions.

Both T-2 and HT-2 toxins are part of the Trichothecenes group and have no proven mutagen or carcinogenic effects. However, they do inhibit DNA and protein synthesis and can have an adverse effect on the digestive system.

T-2 toxin causes alimentary toxic aleukia in humans, which depletes white blood cells thus increasing the chance of infection and in some severe cases death.
