Reading the future

If you are one of the many lateral flow test users who prefers to see results as a number rather than as an arbitrary line on the test strip, then the new Reader from Forsite will be welcome news.  Designed to convert measurements of line intensity into numerical values, the LFDR101 brings impartiality, consistency and reliability to LFD results, whatever type of test is being used.

But perhaps the best news of all is that this Reader is fully portable, allowing you to take it to wherever you are carrying out your tests.  And since at Forsite we believe that testing is best done ‘in the field’, the Reader is the ideal tool for taking and storing measurements until you return to the laboratory where results can be transferred to a PC via Bluetooth.

Removing the guesswork
Because the Reader can differentiate between lines of different intensity far more sensitively than can the human eye, using it with qualitative yes/no tests has real benefits. If you have ever looked at a test result and thought ‘is there a T line there or not?’ the Reader will remove this dilemma. By setting a threshold value at what you decide to be a positive T line, the Reader will highlight results above the threshold by the screen flashing red.  When different people are taking readings of samples over time, the Reader really does introduce impartiality and consistency. There’s no need to guess whether there is a line or not!

Parts per billion quantification
Of course, it is with quantitative lateral flow tests where the Reader becomes essential. The sophisticated software can be programmed to read sandwich and competitive format tests, and to combine readings from single, duplicate or triplicate tests.  Analysis of samples for targets at levels of a few parts per billion can be carried out reliably in this way.

Launch of the LFDR101 Reader is a significant step forwards for on-site use of lateral flow tests, and the Reader genuinely brings laboratory-standard analysis within the capability of high quality lateral flow tests.  We are sure that the Reader will bring a new dimension to how you use LFDs, and we would love to hear how you get on!
