Virus testing for seed potatoes

Pocket Diagnostic kits put disease diagnosis in the hands of growers, consultants and inspectors. They can be used by operators with little or no training. Sampling and testing can be carried out in a few minutes in the field using the simple on-site test kit.

Results appear in the viewing window of the test device approximately 5 minutes after starting the test. The result is easy to read, allowing the user to make a simple ‘yes/no’ interpretation.

The potato virus test kits are used by plant health inspectors and seed potato growers as part of the routine screening for infected plants. Best results are found when testing potato foliage showing disease symptoms and available tests include; Potato virus A, S, X, V and Y, as well as tests for brown rot (Ralstonia solanacearum) and late blight (Phytophthora infestans).
